BIVROST HEIMDALLR ARCTIC SINGLE MALT WHISKY

MYTHOLOGY

Born of nine sea maidens, Heimdallr embodied the mysteries of the ocean and the vigilance of the divine. With sight sharper than an eagle’s and hearing so keen he could hear grass grow, Heimdallr guarded the bridge between worlds.
From his hall, Himinbjorg, he watched over Midgard, ready with his horn Gjallarhorn to signal Ragnarök. At the end of days, he is destined to face Loki in the final battle.
As guardian of the northern light bridge “Bivrost”, Heimdallr represents vigilance, purity, and the eternal balance between chaos and order. In the same way, Bivrost® Heimdallr reflects the gateway between Arctic nature, Norse heritage, and modern craftsmanship.

CREATION

Bivrost® Heimdallr was crafted at the world’s northernmost distillery in Arctic Norway. Matured in carefully selected Rye and Amontillado-seasoned casks, the whisky rested in our modern Viking longhouse. Extreme Arctic temperature shifts and an average annual temperature of just 0.6°C ensured a slow, complex maturation.

YEAST: Traditional Norwegian farm cultures – Kveik strains from Standa, Tormodgarden, and Framgarden farms, propagated in-house. Historic English ale yeast – From a well-known, now-closed Manchester brewery. Reimagined lager yeast – Saccharomyces pastorianus, fermented warm for fruity and complex esters.
MALT: Nordic Pilsener Malt (Planet & Popino barley). Heritage Norwegian barley – Floor-malted by Bonsak. Maris Otter – classic English malt for rich, malty depth.
WATER: Water sourced from Elvejordvannet, which receives melted glacier water from the Lyngen alpine range.
DISTILLED: Distilled 2018–2021 in copper pot/column still with two active plates. Distillation time: 8–10 hours. Hearts collected at ~75% abv.
CASK HANDLING: Heimdallr was matured in Rye and Amontillado casks. Maturation age between 4 to 6 years.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Hubert Wilczewski is a multidisciplinary artist and designer based in Copenhagen. He works with drawing, linocut, pyrography and digital media, creating powerful and evocative images that merge classical craftsmanship with contemporary expression. Much of his work is inspired by Norse and Germanic mythology, often portraying warriors, beasts and runic symbolism with bold, intricate linework.

What drew us to Hubert is his genuine interest in Viking culture and Norse mythology, something that resonates deeply with the Bivrost® universe. His ability to give ancient stories a fresh visual language made him a natural collaborator for this release.

For this special bottling, Hubert has created the striking artwork for Heimdallr. As an extra tribute, nine of the export cases will include a signed print of his original illustration, adding an exclusive artistic touch to the whisky.
